    Concept 2017

    Invisible...

To respond to the enormous expectation of the organizer, Akari-Lisa Ishii and Motoko Ishii, Art Directors of the thematic exhibition, selected some lighting materials exclusively (readymade or order-made, light source, luminous material, artistic applications, control technologies etc.) in order to demonstrate the « musts » to know for the targeted visitors and journalists.

    Why INVISIBLE...? Because…

    - To go back to the fundamental fact that light itself is actually invisible

    - To remind of its magical aspect to make invisible things visible, and visible things invisible

    - To reveal the surprising new technology of light

    - To demonstrate lighting designers’ know-how to hide lighting fixtures and get appear hidden aspects in the space surprisingly

    - To appeal the importance of light in interior design to the opinion-leaders in this field by showing innovative products, representative lighting design realization, progress of light technology, and its diversity

    MATTER

Our stand will consist of 6 rooms. Each of them explains, in its own way, the play of the visible and the invisible in the light.

Visitors will walk through and experiment with different expressions of light. We wish to give them the opportunity to discover the latest trends but also to give advice on their lighting design to create a specific ambiance in a space, a way giving life to it...

    6 spaces for 6 facets:

    1. Going into the magic of light (the Plaza)

As you walk along the red carpet of the main road of the fair, you will see from afar this elegant and unique luminous object named ”Silk Fall”, made of white kimono fabric, and variation of light effects. Intrigued, as you approach, you can discover the subtle play of light inside the fabric of this original monumental suspension, created especially for the event. Then, when the colored light is projected from the outside of the tissues, the inner luminous drops disappear.

After the first surprise, you will see around other objects, playing on the magical aspects of lights: OLED panels to touch, pyramids of artistic light but also an innovative projector that invites you to follow its beam to discover an unknown facet of Niagara Falls at night.

    2. An Intangible Light (Room 1)

On

    3. Reflections of Purity (Room 2)

After the variety of colors in the Plaza, when you enter this room, you might be surprised at its nakedness. Aside from a crystal chandelier, nothing is there ... just music ...

But thanks to the magic of light, you will see different elements appear. We will discover that the crystal chandelier is in fact skillfully arranged to form, through its shadows on the wall, the theme of the exhibition. It is a revised chandelier concept specially designed for this exhibition. An introductory text will not be printed but projected because the light can also reveal the messages enlightening you on what you see .... Two complementary videos of the works of the Designers will let you discover lighting projects on other scales.

To completely play the game immateriality, we also present a series of new spotlights which can also appear and disappear. The image projector is also an compact new product, applicable on a lighting track (like other conventional spots).

    4. Disappearance and reappearance of multi-decors (room 3)

After the art of minimalism, you will get to this space simulating a hotel room.

It has a bed, bedside tables and a set of furniture (desk, chair, bench). Here everything is white, pure, no frills ... Actually, that’s the light who makes the decoration - a modulable one! Nowadays, the boutique-hotels set up a different decoration in each of their rooms, but in fact a visitor would enjoy only one, or two if he comes back... Here, for you, it’s all in one. A large projected image covers the surface of the bed and its head in order to metamorphose ambiance according to the mood of the client: you will pass from a classic decoration of baroque style, to tropical Balinese, pop-art in graffiti, to the universe of thousand and one nights...

This modular effect is achieved by the extremely compact projectors mounted on the light track.

In addition, the luminous atmosphere can also change according to the circadian rhythm. Nearly invisible tiny spots hidden in the ceiling change the tone of white from the cold (zenithal daylight) to warm (sunset). And the level of illumination follows the movement of the day!

When you will notice the round luminaire symbolizing utility corner whose mirror hanging on the wall becomes invisible when this wall bracket fixture turns on.

And it’s not over, as a bonus, notice that the furniture of the room is a new product, specially designed for the use SOHO (small office home office). It is adaptable and retractable (like Russian dolls): when one works, it unfolds in large surface; When you are 2, you can compose 2 sets of tables & chairs; when you want to hide things on it, you uses its drawer; when you hold a teleconference, a screen appears to hide the rest of the space (and what we do not want to show) ...

    5. Transparency does everything (room 4)

You will then emerge in a small labyrinth bathed in light in which you will notice glass panels deposited prominently, alone, such as artworks in a museum...

What do they have in particular? They are totally transparent but the lighting fixture fixed on the surface turns on!

Indeed, despite the absence of visible electrical wires, they are powered by an entirely new technology of conductive materiel placed inside the glass. A totally innovative product that deserves this presentation as an artwork.

Around you, tissues of optic fibers of large surface form luminous partitions.

    6. Light is revealed (room 5)

Here you will be absorbed by a sculpture of light in diptych placed in the center of this room. It invites you to a hypnotic visual experience, an original creation specially produced for this space. Half-mirrored glass tubes reflect the luminous points infinitely and make non-existent light exist!

And there you will also find the great projection of Niagara Falls by night, illuminated by the spots exposed at exit of the room. The projected light unveils a unknown facet of the Falls. Make a sensory and luminous journey. Immerse yourself in this lighting that unveils the nature in a never-seen scale.
